For perfect reasons, ambassadorial announcements rarely get much attention in the watch world, but if a brand partnership is built correctly, and for the right reasons, everyone can benefit from them – including watch enthusiasts. Thankfully, Breitling’s recently assembled “Surf Team” is surprisingly taking shape, at least in my book, with the debut of the new Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown. The latter. Now, keep in mind that this is not a brand new watch, it’s just the addition of a new dial and sustainable twist to the existing interior Superocean II that we presented at this year’s Baselworld, featuring a strap in the form of recyclable nylon “Econyl” NATO thanks to a strap with luxury breitling watch ! A clever pairing from Squad member Kelly Slater’s Ocean Conservation Project.
Admittedly, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a strap made from recycled materials in the watch space. Oris launched the ‘Diver 65’ earlier this year (in conjunction with its beach clean-up program) with a bracelet made from a unique new material called r-Radyarn, which is woven from post-consumer recycled polymers. However, the journey of this Breitling and the new special bracelet has been marked by the launch of Breitling’s new “Surfer Squad” – a team of experts, led by new CEO Georges Cohen, who has been working on the brand’s new “Surfers Squad” – and the launch of the new bracelet. (Kern) launched three brand ambassadors in the first few months of his tenure at cheap copy Breitling watches , including Aussie surfers Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons; but including 11-time World Surf League champion Kelly Slater ) collaboration.
See, Slater co-founded Outerknown with prolific menswear designer John Moore back in 2015, and together they’ve created a menswear brand dedicated to ocean conservation while using as many eco-conscious manufacturing alternatives as possible-including recycled fishing nets and old nylon surplus products like flannel shirts, Levi’s jackets, and shorts. So it’s no surprise that partnering with an apparel brand committed to sustainable manufacturing for a watch collaboration would not only result in some form of praise for natural resource conservation, but also in watch-specific accessories.
Before we get too deep into the watches themselves, it’s interesting to note that one brand has moved away from the traditional avenues of nautical collaboration (sailboats, professional divers, etc.) to the World Surf League – perhaps uncharted territory for many Swiss watch brands, with only TAG Heuer (which has been the only brand to have made a watch in recent years). Tag Heuer) comes to mind, a major brand that is getting people involved in the world of surfing. In addition to its partnership with Outerknown, luxury high configuration Breitling watch (along with Outerknown) is now supporting ocean conservation, and the brand’s “triathlon line-up” has just announced a partnership with Qhubeka,AAAA Replica Watches UK a South African charity that provides bikes to underprivileged communities. Admittedly, all three efforts are a small slice of a much larger pie of charitable funds, but the real intent seems to be at the heart of Breitling’s new ambassadorial identity.
As mentioned earlier, the Superocean II Outerknown is based on the version launched earlier this year, adding a scratch-resistant black DLC-coated stainless steel case and a dark blue sun dial – both colors are indicated in a striped nylon strap with a case 12:00 above the Outerknown’s ” OK ” logo. During a brief period of wear, our own David (who took these images at the London launch) found the recycled nylon strap itself to be surprisingly soft to the touch, in contrast to many of the overly stiff, thin and abrasive NATO belts that seem to be so popular these days (Tudor, looking at you). But perhaps the best detail about the strap itself is that there’s nothing about it that says it’s recyclable – it’s just a comfortable, well-made, forward-thinking alternative with zero downsides, and we hope to see more from it. The future. Only by looking really closely will you see a malleable material that resembles a tough fishing net. It looks no worse than conventionally woven NATO, and, if anything, feels softer and better to the touch and wear.
On the face of it, the watch itself has all the same indicators as the current SOII: a 44mm steel case, fitted with a chronograph movement based on the Valjoux / ETA 7750,replica cellini and a date / date aperture of 3:00. replica Breitling chronograph watches has done an excellent job of minimizing the case thickness on the 7,750 equipped cases (most notably the thick-bottom diameter), although the strap The lower extension will be much higher on the wrist.
